When great
looking people with great looking
bodies tell us how great their exercise program is and how great it
makes them
look and feel, the rest of us not so great looking, not so athletic
people are
inspired until we realize that exercise is hard to do, not very
pleasant when
you are not very good at it, and not likely to make you any more
attractive. Regular
participation in an organized exercise program is wonderful if you have
the
time, talent and means to do it, but it is not necessary for good
health. Our
bodies seem to have been designed for a moderate amount of daily
physical
activity; pushing, pulling, lifting and particularly walking. Most of
us do not
do enough of these activities to maintain the strength of our heart and
lungs.
For those of us lucky enough to be able to walk, walking is an easy,
convenient
and inexpensive way to get all the exercise we really need, and get
from one
place to another. Inactivity will always lead to poor health. Work out
if you
are athletic, and if not, just walk.
