The making of
wine predates the making of pottery
to pour it into. A glass of wine once in a while will not kill you. It
may even
be good for you. A beer has been known to arrest false labor, and cheer
up the
mother-to-be. A binge, however, can kill even a young and healthy
individual. The
toxic affects of indiscriminate alcohol use (or any other substance
abuse) can
be cumulative over time and destroy vital organs for which there are no
substitutes, such as the liver or the pancreas. Moderation is the best
counsel,
but it can be a relative term. It has been said that physicians define
excessive drinking as drinking more than the doctor. If your doctor has
more
than a drink or two once in a while, and you drink more than your
doctor, then
you should reduce you alcohol consumption AND find a different doctor.
