More than a
requirement to live, eating is one
of the true pleasures of life. It tickles all of our senses. Food can
look
good, smell good, taste good and make us feel good. A sizzling steak or
stir-fry can even sound good. In reference to our health, food can
actually be
good as well. Alas, we are reminded of possibly the cruelest law of
nature: too
much of a good thing is almost always a bad thing. There is an entire
industry
based upon choosing the right foods over the wrong foods, and volumes
of conflicting
advice have been written on the subject. In the end, the fact remains
that what
we eat is less significant for our general health than how much we eat.
In what
seems like another perverse aspect of life, the more delightful a thing
is, the
more potentially harmful it can be. The only exception seems to be
strawberries.
